Why does this matter?

A Stamper can only press 500 to 1000 records before its quality degrades. If we want to press more than 500 copies of a record, it is more economical to plate another stamper from the Mother than it is to cut a new Lacquer and plate a new Master. While stampers can be stored for future use, any damage to the stamper will affect the sound on the records it produces so storage safety is critical.
